Finally arrived at our hotel, after taking 1,5 hours to get thru customs. What a miserable bunch. Difficult just for the sake of it, reminded me of our first border crossing at Kamatipoort. Chaos!!! To top it off, it took an hour to get checked into the hotel. Mmmm!!!!

Torcello - this is were 'Venice' originally started before moving to its current location. Has lots of small holdings, so was really nice to see open fields etc. beautiful little church.

Burano - small very colourful fishing village, well known for its lace. Had a quick demonstration, amazing the time that goes into producing a small patch, hence being so, so expensive. Must play havoc on the eyes.

Today was our boat trip to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. First stop Murano ( known as the island of glass). This is where the most amazing glass work is done. Had a demonstration of glass blowing. Took the glass master a mere 5 minutes to make a beautiful rearing horse. Take my hat off to them for being able to work in that heat. Unfortunately were not allowed to take any pictures of the works of art. Chandeliers to die for.

Hostaria All'Ombre - Final night in Venice. Just finished with a really good pizza and salad, and obviously the proverbial bottle of wine! So chilled it's great. We've walked the 'promenade' of the Grand Canal, and all the restaurants menu's are the same, just the price that differs (only criticism). The last couple of days have been really good fun.
