Castle Sant' Angelo - this was intended to be the burial place of Hadrian and his family. It is erected on the site of the ancient Horti Domizia. The bridges later linked the fortress with the centre if Rome . This later became a prison in which such famous characters as Giordano Bruno & Cagliostro were incarcerated. It is now a museum.

First night dinner- pasta with mushrooms, truffles and cream - mmmmlicious. Could do with some more.

Finally arrived at our hotel, after having to wait an age for our luggage to come through. Thankfully the driver was there waiting. In eventful drive into Rome. Far more spread out than Paris was. Passed the Colosseum on the way in, huge. Arrived at the hotel and had about a half hour wait for our room, but got an expression while we waited.
