Up early yet again to rush around and stuff everything in to our bags as quickly as possible to get the 0935 Greyhound. Said bye to my shorts...a very sad day for me. Pat and Rich got a pie and a sausage roll, they stole a spoon so Coops could have a rice yoghurt thing I got hungry and had to get an apple, Helen managed not to eat anything, I think she must have been secretly snacking on chocolate. The greyhound stopped after about an hour and wouldn't stop again until we got to Hervey Bay at 1425, so Helen and I got a pie. Got back on the bus and they showed a film called 'Just my Luck', didn't bother watching it just read my book. The bus got stuck in a traffic jam after about half an hour which seemed to take about an hour to get past just inching forward every now and then, it started getting really hot on the bus, Coops asked the driver if he could make the air con cooler but apparently it was as cold as possible, I think he was bulls***ting to be fair, it was roasting. Because we had lost so much time in the traffic jam the driver was spanking it on the final leg of the journey, I was very nearly sick when he was going up and down the hills. Finally arrived and checked in to the Koala Accomodation.
We were all roasting so we decided to jump in pool first thing. Burns started doing his legendary Burns dives, and attempted teaching me, I nearly got the hang of it but every time I try my eyes get pushed right back in to their sockets, I don't know how he does it. After a while of bombing in to the pool a security guard showed up and told us to stop jumping, so we got out. Across the road were weight machines that were free to use so I went over and used them before showering. The girls cooked us a tasty lemon chicken dish and then we went for a walk. They spotted a pancake shop and couldn't resist so on the way back from the walk they popped in and got what was displayed as a stack of pancakes for about 4 dollars. I don't know how they can describe it as a stack as it consists of 1 pancake, that has to be false advertising. The lads and I went to the shop, I ended up buying a giant bar of chocolate which I necked and on the way back used the free exercise machines again. Coops bought a new game as we are all getting pretty sick of all the games we keep playing, she got Chinese Chequers, which we played one game of before gettig bored. In the evening we played a few games of pool in the bar, which the bar staff kept threatening to close because there weren't enough customers, even though there were s*** loads of people playing drinking games outside. Ended up playing P&A again until we were tired and went to the room. The lads and I had a conversation about whether we could managed to hold a beach towel up for 10 minutes via an erection with no visual stimulus, we've yet to try it out. Nodded off while listing Koala facts to the girls as they wrote them down.

Didn't have to wake up early but got up reasonably early anyway because it was sunny outside and wasn't raining. I went for a wander to get a hair cut, couldn't find anywhere open though because it is Australia Day, so I spent half an hour at the gym machines across the road before heading to the beach with the others. It was so hot, the sun cream that I put on made me sweat profusely. After about an hour laying there I had to go in the sea, which was void of any waves and was about as warm as a bath. After laying in the sun as long as we could possibly bear Coops and I decided to sit in the shade, she managed to break her flip flops on the way, whilst Helen and Pat went for a wander and we left Rich on the beach to guard our stuff. We spotted some more BBQ's so decided to go down the street and buy some meat, unfortunately the butchers were all shut because of Australia Day so we had to make do with what we thought were going to be some rancid burgers from the IGA. When we cooked them they seemed fine though, I swear my stomach is starting to shrink, I'm getting full of just about nothing these days. Went back to the room and I decided to go for a dip in the pool, did a few lengths and then got out. Finished reading my book just before 3pm when our Fraser Island meeting took place.
We were all sat in the bar of the hostel, and then split into 3 groups. Our group consisted of 11 people, us 5, Emma, Hannah, Marco, Manuel, Ben and Jen. We were all informed not to drive though any salt water or over and dunes, told to lock our kids up in a fenced camp site to prevent them being eaten by Dingos, and also not to sleep on the beach as they are used as roads. After a while the guy handed us a food list and we all got the oppertunity to decide what we wanted for our entire group to eat for the next 3 days and 2 nights. That was fun, there were definately no arguments! Off we went to the IGA and managed to only spend 65 dollars between the 11 of us, we bought 8 loaves of bread, a load of pasta and sauce, a bag of spuds, salad and loads of slices of cheese. We then ordered some food from the butcher through the hostel which came to $81. Emma seemed a bit of a fuss pot when we were in the IGA, she wasn't really happy with any decision, so we kinda let her go with whatever, I'd be happy eating cold beans out of a tin for 3 days.
When we got back from the shop I spent about an hour doing exercise as I'd not really done much recently. Then Burns and I cooked Pasta with sauce for dinner. The electric hobs were awful, we spent about 30 minutes waiting for the water to come to the boil in the 2 pans we needed for all the pasta, they had no lids so we had to use frying pans. When the water finally started boiling and the remaining pasta from someones previous cooking session had peeled off the base of the pan we picked it out and then put our fresh stuff in. Then came the fun of cutting the cheese, which Burns is usually so good at, but not this time, we only had a bread knife and a bowl to cut it on, we couldn't use the surface as they were skanky, so it took us the entire cooking time to cut it. What really pissed us both of was the two girls that cooked about 2 kilos of mince in a pan right next to us and saw that we were just having pasta and sauce, left about a kilo of the stuff in the sauce pan which we thought they would eat later, but no, they just chucked it in the bin without even asking if we wanted it. How rude! Spent the rest of the evening playing cards, P&A, with everyone from our group for tomorrow. Watched Heroes before going to bed.
