Ok it's been a long time since i wrote anything but thats because I've been on the road for the past couple of weeks. At the moment I'm working on a farm in a small townsville called Moroonpa on the outskirts of Shepparton. After leaving Melbourne we started the shabby tour across Victoria, the first stop was Torquay, a small surfing town with apparently the best waves in Oz. We stayed there 3 nights, a lot of beach cricket was played on the famous Bells beach. After Torquay we started on the great ocean road, and Marcus insisted on stopping every 5 minuets so a 1 hour drive to Apollo Bay turned into a 3 hour drive. Apollo Bay was good fun, finaly got to play some tennis after watching it for the past 2 weeks, met some essex boys who also came with real gap and had a bbq. After leaving the bay we set off on, personaly my favourite part of, the great ocean road. The first stop was the 12 appostles, which was the part of the trip i'd been waiting for, and after driving in clear skys and sunshine, we arrived to find the appostles covered in fog. After trying hard to see them but with no luck we decided to drive on a bit further down the road and get some lunch, because for some reason whenever we go for a meal the weather seems to clear up. Sure enough after a hearty 12 rocks 2 mile burger (long name ay) the fog had lifted and we went back and got some stunning views of them. Next came the Arch and London Bridge (broken), which were also stunning but didn't compare to the Appostles. After a one night stop, ssomewhere i cant remember ( i will ask Marcus), we headed up to the Grampians mountain range. The first day we set up camp then played a bit of crazy golf, which got very competitive, (me and big rob battled it out for 2nd, and i hate to say it but he just beat me, phil was first by a mile and i won't mention lil rob and marcus's score) we then headed to the pub and got some 'foxy' beer and came back to our tent to find kangas bouncing around (Kanga patrol sorted them out thou'!) The next day we started early and did a 15Km trek up to the Pinnicle, again more stunning views and we could see our campsite from it. On the way up to it we stoped off at the venus baths, natural pools you could sit in; grand canyon, big rocky canyon; and a couple of waterfalls, the venus baths were my favourite. The next day other guys went biking, I'd already been in the blue mountains and want to go see the balconies, so i drove up their and stopped off at a few lookouts on the way. From the Grampians we headed out to Ballarat, an old gold mining town. We stayed in the realative luxuary of a caravan, which compared to the tent felt like a 5* hotel and it even had a swimming pool (heated!) and a tv so i got to watch the first episode of lost score! The main attraction in Ballarat is Soverigen Hill, a recration of how Ballarat would have looked in the 1800's. We went panning for gold and took a trip down into the old gold mines. With Ballarat over it was time to start thinking about actually doing some work and getting some money, so we went to the fruit salad city and capital of fruit picking, Shepparton. We got jobs on the Rutherford orchard picking pears for 32.5 a bin, a full bin weighs half a ton and at the start took us roughly 3 hours to fill so it wasn't great money but we dedcided to stick it out for a week and see how we felt by saturday. Lil Rob didnt even start picking and Marcus and Phil left after one week, Marcus absolutely hated it and Phil didnt really need the money, so for the second week it was just me and big rob in a 6 man tent! The second week was a lot better than the first, we'd got quicker at picking and could do a bin in a bout an hour and a half, and the farmer threw us a bbq with lots of free beer and meat, which we were so greatful for 'cause we hadn't seen beer of meat for a good couple of weeks. Unfortunatly the bbq was to celerbrate us finishing all the pears, whcih meant there was no work for the rest of the week on the farm (bbq was on wed) so the next couple of days we just hung around the farm asking Kevin, the farmer, if he'd found us any work, we eventually got some on the last day 'cause a picker on another farm wanted a day off and we picked a record 7 bins. After having to wait for hours to get back, the Slovinein guys we were getting a lift with hadn't put any petrol in and it took them ages to realise thats why their car wouldnt start, we went up to the farmers house (which is soo nice btw) to collect our money and everyone else from the farm was there, Kevin had cooked some food and had brought a few slabs of beer. We stayed there for most of the night but when we got a message from Worthy saying that he'd be there to pick us up at 6.30am we thought we'd better go back.
