Here is the first blog of the series!
Arrived in Cario in the early hours of the 7th Nov 07. Stayed at the Sara Inn hostel caiio which was pretty good as it has comfy beds and hot showers. spent the first day exploring cario by foot and trying to find the main tourist area. however, we headed in the wrong direction for the best part of two hours through the back streets of Cario. Was surprised not to be hassled at all in the back streets apart from being followed by some curious children. We headed back to the hotel and got our bearings and headed out for a second go found main Cairo and found it pretty average. very polluted and too much traffic (the only way to cross a road is to take your life in your hands and run).
Went for a nile cruise at night which was an experence, turned put we were gate crashing an egyption wedding! the food was lovely and there was a belly dancer who forced me and Kelly to dance in front everyone, and some crazy man in a dress who just spun in circles for about 10 mins!
Went to the pyramids the next day which has to be done. This was great and exactly as u expect. They are let down by the number of people trying to rip u off though. got some good pictures and our guide was lovely. Did have to ride a camel to them though which nobody thought to mention to me! This was hard work and left me in great pain the next day.
Left Cairo a day early as it was a bit too hectic for my liking and headed down to Dahab on an epic 9 hour bus journey, with many many stops.
Reached Dahab on Friday afternoon and so far very impressed. Totally different from Cairo and very laid back.
will update next Sunday!
