I MISS TUK-TUKS!!!

Our Vietnam > Lao bus dropped us off in the station, where we were delighted to once again see tuk-tuks! They're not as nice as the tuk-tuk's of Thailand and Cambodia, but nonetheless they still serve there purpose. Took a tuk-tuk with some aussie peeps to the centre where, because of the heat and how nackered we were we settled pretty early on an average hotel at a fairly expensive price... but the shower was worth it! We soon found somewhere cheaper to move to for the following night and after a beer and a curry (do you think anyone will know we're english?) we all crashed out.

Went to the Wat Si Saket the following morning which was pretty chilled out and had a cloister full of hundreds of buddhas, we had planned to visit Pha That Luang (another temple that looks amazing) later that day but once again the impact of the typhoon seemed to hunt us down so we hid from the downpour and drank massive happy bottles of Beer Lao (which made us all super giggly) and played cards all afternoon.

We could have booked a tourist bus for 60000 kip (around $6) between Vientiane and our next destination, Vang Viang, but as all our previous bus journeys have been on more local buses, we decided to go it alone and took a tuk-tuk to the station, then jumped on a local bus for half the price... good call!
