Went on a day trip to Humahuaca on Tuesday which is a town 3 hours north of Salta. We left at 7am when the temperature was about -5C! The valley you drive through to get there is beautiful as the mountains are all multicoloured and nicknamed the seven coloured mountians. The colours are due to the different deposits of rock in the ocean before the andes were uplifted. There was also a place called the artists palette which literaklly is bands of colours along the mountain. We arrived in humahuaca around 4pm and the two american girls and I checked into a hostel.
We stayed overnight in humahuaca rather than heading back to salta as it was closer to the bolivian border. That night I enjoyed my last argentine steak which i will truly miss!
On wednesday we were up at 4.30am to get the first but to La Quica which is the argentine border town. We had to queue for ages in the freezing cold but eventully we cleared customs and were in Bolivia!
