The souk is about 12 km long (from Bab Antakya - Antioch Gate - to the citadel), making it one of the largest in the orient. Olive soap, colourful lingerie and dresses, gold jewellery, pistachios, coffee, tea, ethereal oils, bread, the traditional, delicious Syrian sweets and cookies - all are to be found there. There was also a Syrian who approached us in perfect German German, asking us about Maria Theresia!
