Bygdøy Peninsula - Kon-Tiki Museum - RA II
This museum is as spectacular as the Viking ship one! Thor Heyerdahl and his deliberately chosen international crew crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the reed boat RA II in 1970. They had tried the year before but had to abandon the attempt owing to a construction error. With his 1970 expedition, Heyerdahl showed through experimental marine archeology that a similar voyage could have been made long before Columbus. RA I sailed 2662 miles in 54 days, from Morocco to near the S American Atlantic coast, and RA II 3270 miles in 57 days, from Morocco to Barbados.
