Holberg (1684-1754) is considered the founder of modern Danish & Norwegian literature. He was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian & playwright who was born in Bergen. Holberg roamed Europe in the early 18th C and Grieg composed the "Holberg Suite" in 1885 to honour him.
