Edvard Grieg, Norway's most famous classical composer, had this lovely villa built for himself and his wife, his cousin, opera singer, Nina Hagerup, in 1885, the year after the summer they had spent on the Hardangervidda (Hardanger Plateau), where Grieg was inspired so much by the folk music he heard.
