Helloooo!
Sorry it has been a while since my last update! The last few weeks of volunteering were very busy. It was very sad to say goodbye to everyone, but I think almost all of us will stay in touch. I really met some great people. The last camps were amazing... the classes went really well and I had the best girls empowerment session of the trip. The girls were so open and talkative which makes a HUGE difference in how the discussion goes. We also did one more homestay which was incredible. Even though it is really really difficult to communicate with the people, it is still fun to try to connect with them through dancing and singing (their favorite activity), and having them laugh at us trying to help with their chores and work. For the last three days of the program, we went to Lake Malawi! It was so beautiful and made me think of the lakes at home! We went cliff jumping on this island and swam around the lake. It was really really relaxing and a great way to end the trip. THis trip was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. As the kids drew on the chalk board at camp: "Raura his verr happ" - Couldn't have said it better myself. I already miss Malawi, the people I have met and volunteering!!!
I arrived in Cairo this morning (ahead of schedule) because of some flight mishaps...but I am happy to have the extra day and to see the city. Rob gets in soon and I can't wait to meet up with him and start our way around Egypt!! The hotel we are at for the night is gorgeous and I am tempted to lounge around here for the evening to relax a little bit :) But I dont wanna miss anything - I cant wait to start exploring. I will try to write more once I have a chance!!
How is everything going back home?? I hope everything is going well! I miss you all!
Love, Raura
