Flew into Ho Chi Minh City (what had been known as Saigon) this afternoon. Arranged to pick up our visa at the airport. Reasonably efficient. Then got out first taste of Saigon traffic. More motor bikes than cars but plenty of both. Quite chaotic, particularly the motorbikes. We went for a walk and quickly realized that pedestrians are fair game. Crosswalks are ignored and walk lights are only marginally acknowledged. You are not even safe on sidewalks. If the traffic is heavy on the streets, the motorbikes take to the sidewalks. Oh well, we survived the first day. Tomorrow the Viking tour begins with a tour of Ho Chi Minh City.
