We did the Golden Circle Tour today. Good tour and reasonable weather (about 7C.). The tour included the area where the American and Eurasian continental plates are pulling apart, the site of the first parliament (about 930AD), a great waterfall and a geyser (not as high as Old Faithful but more frequent performances). Woke up to a much better day today. Mostly sunshine. Off on a ten hour tour of the south shore. It is obvious from all of the countryside that Iceland is a young country created by volvanoes (lava and volcanic ash). Nevertheless, the volcanic ash is quite fertile and has created good soil, particularly for grass. We drove through the area directly impacted by the 2010 volcanic eruption. Here is my first entry. The photos are giving me problems. The flight had its issues. Our Horizon Air flight to Seattle was cancelled but we were able to rebook on another flight that got us to Seattle in plenty of time to catch our Iceland Air flight. That leg went well. Arrived in Reykjavik at 7am, got to the hotel by 8:30am and immediately got into our room. We have a nice sunny day with 7 degrees temperature, but a 40 km/hr. wind, so it is quite chilly....
