Koh Chang (2 nights)
I took a moto taxi from Koh Kong to the Thai border. I met a couple of German girls and another couple (no idea where they were from) and we all jumped in a pick-up and headed to Trat, where we changed to a Thai style taxi. This is essentially a pick-up truck with a canvas cover constructed over the back, where there are a couple of benches for passengers. We caught a ferry to the island and then another taxi to the beaches.
I had separated from the others at the port, because they were faffing around trying to decide where to go. So, finding myself alone again, I checked into a 'bungalow' near the beach. I had the most basic model, which is essentially a shed on stilts, with a little concrete bathroom at the back. It had a bed and a mosi-net and a fan. It was confortable enough, but at twice the price of a hotel room in Cambodia, I felt a bit hard done by!
There is really very little else to add about Koh Chang. I spent my time reading, sunbathing, swimming in the sea, and watching the movies on the big screen at the resort. I failed to meet anybody, and I wanted to get to one of the southern islands for Christmas, so I booked my bus to Bangkok.
