A glorious morning and after morning coffee in the most splendid surrounds we start the short drive to the main town of Wanaka and to somewhere we have been so excited to explore.....Puzzling world! Another spectacular road journey and We park up in town, a very nice town it is too, we visit the i site and then set off round the bay to photograph "a must photograph scene". We duly found the 'lone tree of Wanaka' and snapped away. Finally off to todays main event ...

Enough now we are outta here!! It looks like the weather will be dry in the morning so an early start sees us head out for the walk around lake Matherson followed by the walk to the Fox Glacier face. Lake Matherson is the most famous and most photographed lake in the world as it is a mirror lake ( see pics all to be revealed) it takes an hour return walk to the glacier face and today we get to 200 meters away. It doesn't look like the weather is going to let up at all today. However another day in the van we may just go a little stir crazy. We head into town find the local tavern and eat some tasty food washed down with the locally brewed beer.......more DVDs and a snuggly warm van!!!

The weather is pants, drizzle rain and cold. Research tells us we have a small window of clear weather 10am - 11am. Noted, so we are parked and start our walk to the glacier at 9:30am , it is a 1hour 30minutes round trip. Once again the sun is shining and we awake ( note: we are and have been sleeping approx 12 hours straight, non alcohol fuelled, very satisfying) 1st stop the Punakiki blow holes, these are layers of rock that have formed/ appeared on the coastline the appear as a stack of pancakes, layered top of each other.
