SINGAPORE 1ST - 2ND MARCH 2007We arrived at Singapore airport at 11am on the 1st and had a flight to Australia 8pm on the 2nd; so we had 33hours to wait!We figured we would try to go on standby for an earlier flight and if not it would be fine as we had been told, Singapore airport was the best in the world and there is so much to do, such as free internet, T.V's, sleep areas, free city tours etc etc. Boy was this wrong!!!We couldn't go on standby as there were no earlier flights, and although Singapore airport is amazing we didn't get to see it or any of its perks as we flew into the budget terminal and this had no perks. We had to go through customs then wait in the area before border control where there were NOT lots to do! There were a few newsagents and cafes and ticket desks! We stuck around the airport all day on the 1st and it felt like an eternity of boredom. We tried to sleep in Starbucks that evening, as it had the comfiest seats, but the air-con in the airport was so ridiculously freezing it seemed an impossible task. As soon as the sun came up we knew we sill had 13hours until our flight and we knew we couldn't spend anymore time in that airport, so we locked our bags away and we caught the underground into 'Orchard Street', Singapores shopping district. It was nice to have a lok around the streets; it was very busy, loads of shops, where you walk underground and under the roads to get from mall to mall, (clever) and fantastic sushi. The day shot by and before we knew it we were getting on that plane to Darwin, Australia.
