Hi,
We arrive a little bit tired but slept more than we thought we would, and got the tram to St Kilda where a hostel had been recommended to us. Im not sure why it was a dump but we booked for 2 nights (not sure why). They were doing free breakfast and dinner as their kitchen was flooded. We had a walk around and booked a Neighbours tour for the next day, we also went to Albert Park and saw some of the Grand Prix track which was still set up from the previous weekend. We had dinner at our hostel in the evening and got chatting to 3 lads from Manchester who were on holiday one wanted to start a save the backpackers charity so gave us $10 to get a McFlurry!!!!!!!!
That night we didnt get much sleep as everyone was out partying and being very loud on their return to the dorms but we were still up early for the tour which started at 8am. We went to Ramsey Street and the other outside sets which are at the studio. (I think Ash is a secret fan really). Our "star" was Janelle Timmons who used to be in it about 5 million years ago i was not impressed. We met my friend from home for lunch then had a wander round the city and found a nice hostel for our next 3 nights. We also went and looked at the Disney Museum we saw some of the original art work.
We moved into the city the next day, i took Ash on a walking tour using my guide book (she didnt tip me though). In the evening we went to the Neighbours Trivia night we saw Dr Karl, Paul Robinson, Irish Connor and Dylan Timmons came to, again I was not impressed the current cast members obviously dont like coming to these nights. Ash enjoyed the wine and we had a little boogie to Paul Robinsons band.
We went to Queens Market which is Melbournes biggest and got some souvenirs, then we sat in the Botanical Gardens enjoying the sunshine which doesnt happen very often in Australia.
In the evening we went to the comedy festival and saw Caroline Rhea (Aunt Hilda in Sabrina the Teenage Witch) she was really funny and we had good night.
On our last day in Australia we went to the Aquarium to see the penguins which were really cute, we also saw turtles, grey nurse sharks, hammerhead sharks, leopard sharks and giant rays the biggest was over 3metres. After we went to the immigration museum, which was really interesting until the school trip arrived and caused chaos getting in everyones way so we left and went to a very posh tea rooms for a cream tea. It was lush.
We flew to New Zealand for the next stage of our trip.
