We were able to have a little sleep in this morning as our bus to Vienna did not leave until 12pm which was welcomed after our early start the previous morning.
After some breakfast Lou, Lauren & I headed off to the shops to buy a santa souvenir that the girls had seen the previous day (hand carved and painted $90 AUD. Worth every penny they said). We then also went to supermarket to get lunch and snacks for the bus ride.
We got to the bus stop without issue and on time but as the departure time got closer we were notified so the bus would be 35 mins late so we had a little more time to kill.
The bus departed at at approx. 12.30pm and it took roughly 3 hours to get us to Vienna.

We caught an Uber to our accomodation the Wombat Hostel (first international Uber ride). After we had setlled in we walked to markets which was conveniently across the road. The markets werent visually impressive but they had plenty different food amd spices as well as restaurants/bars. After have a look around we stopped at one of the bars for a drink before heading to a walking tour.

We met our tour guide Hannes who took us around to the all the main tourist attractions. The history of Vienna was really interering as it has been a part of all the main historical events. It was also one of the capitals of the Roman Empire. A lot of Viennas history revolves around the Habsburg family who were the longest ruling family.
Some interesting facts that we were made aware of is that Schnitzel (Milan) and Strudel (Turkey/Ottoman) are actually not created in Austria. Another food fact is that the croissant orginated in Austria but was taken to France by Antoinette and hence became their creation.
The tour finished at a local Austrian restaurant where we got to have chicken/pork schnitzel and apple strudel. The strudel wasnt the best which was dissapointing especially to Louise as she loves her sweets but the schnitzel was nice.
After dinner we walked back to the accomodation and went to the hostel bar for a couple drinks. I retired to bed. Loz, Scott and Lou made friends in the bar and played drinking games for a few hours.
Hire car tomorrow and off to Slovenia!
