Ahhhh, what a place - I love it here!!
My first impressions of the plac weren't that great though, as I had a little run in with one of the customs officers who didn't believe that it was me in my passport picture which made me a little worried! It was all sorted though, and then it was on our way to the hotel. What an amazing place that is! We decided (or I did) after over 2 months of travelling and due to the fact that stuff is so cheap out here, we'd stay in a 5* hotel and it's so cool - chocolates on your pillow at night and eveyone calls me miss which I've grown quite accustomed to! We've even been upgraded to an executive suite - not sure what that means but its sounds good anyway...
The city is so different to anywhere I've ever been before - there are motorbikes everywhere, whizzing around and everyone toots! They toot when they're breaking, getting faster, changing direction... As you can imagine it's pretty noisy! Plus everyone here thinks Sonal and I are beautiful, Sonal because she's so dark and me because I'm so pale. This woman yesterday in the street pointed to my skin and blew a kiss at me! I'm not taking up any of those offers though...
we saw quite alot yesterday, we went to the War Museum which was really interesting as it told the story of the Vietnamese war from the Vietnamese side - some of the stuff we saw was quite disturbing. Then we got driven around town for about 2 hours by 2 old men on their cyclos - they completely fleeced us price wise, but it was well worth it and we got to see bits of the Chinese district which we wouldn't have otherwise. We also went to the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office ( the building is very old in case you're wondering why we went and saw that!).
Today was amazing. We visited the Ch Chi tunnels and got to see the weapons that the VC used. We also got to go down the tunnels that the VC used during the war to attack the americans - they are so small and dark. I got a bit scared at some points because we were over 5 metres below the ground. It was all good in the end though because we found our way out alive! I also got to fire an AK-47 with real bullets which was quite alot of fun - I think I hit the target several times (not that I'm bragging).
