Hi,
After getting over the initial culture shock I'm having a great time here.
I have learnt a little about Cambodia by going to the Killing Field and to Tuol Seng (Khmer Rouge Prison 21). The guide lived through the Khmer Rouge period and could tell us alot about what went on (at the start of the period there were about 7 m Cambodian people, but 3m of these died under the regime - now more than 50% of the population is under the age of 20). The regime was barbaric.
I have also been to some of the local markets where I have picked up some bargains! I'll have to send a package home soon!
The people I am with are nice. On this trip there is a much wider age range - 15 to about 65! I am sharing with a lovely Australian girl called Pauline from Melbourne.
We are off to Battambong (the second largest city in Cambodia) tomorrow by public bus. It should take about 7 hours!!
