Day 106 - Merry Christmas!
Wow, we can't believe it is already christmas! We are now in Sydney, staying with Louise's uncle and family (Rich, Justine and Georgia)
After Byron we spent a few more days travelling south and we finally found the sun! We had a day surfing at 'spot x' surf camp, which was great fun. We also went to a koala hospital which was amazing, and we saw how they treated the injured koalas and got them ready for release back in to the wild. We saw a 6 month old joey, which was unbelievably cute!
We managed to navigate our way through the Sydney traffic surprisingly well to drop off the camper van. It was great fun having the van, but we were both excited to sleep in a proper bed when we got to Sydney!
We have been spoilt this week, and have been busy in and around the city. We spent a day at the blue mountains where we saw some amazing views, including the 3 sisters rock formation, and we went on the world's steepest railway - very steep!! We spent a day in the city, doing some christmas shopping and looking at all the decorations. It's a bit strange seeing it all in the sun, but we both still feel like it's christmas!
We have been having loads of fun with Georgia (Louise's 5 year old cousin) who has got us playing lots of games, singing christmas songs and getting excited for a visit from santa (if we have been good enough this year).
The plan for christmas day is a BBQ on the beach, true aussie style! On boxing day we're going out on a boat to watch the start of the Sydney-Hobart boat race, then hopefully we'll meet up with a couple of friends from our Africa trip. Then it's off to New Zealand!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Lots of love,
Louise and John xxx
