Hey!!
?Well after staying in possibly the best hostel in the world in Santiago (well it was according to Hostel world.com) and meeting some great people and drinking some great wine!?I decided that?I needed to get off my butt and get off the sofa and see some more of Chile.
So after lots of deliberating?I finally decided on Pucon, which is an overnights bus ride?south of?Santiago. The guys on the bus on the way here were brilliant and really looked after me (i think think they thought it was a bit of a novalty haveing a foreigner on the bus on her own who cant speak a word of Spainish) even when?I got off at the?wrong stop, they knew where I was heading and shooed me back on (well it was 4am, who knows what they?re doing at that time!)
?So here I am and the first thing to say is that?I can tell that I?m in the south, Brrrrrrr!!!! if this is a taster of things to come then Patagonia definately need to be done in the Spring! well unfortunately?I havn?t been able to climb the volcano ?or see any lava ?as the tour leaders wouldnt take us up 6 hour climb due to bad weather conditions. no matter though as I indulged myself fully in Pucons other attractions. This place is a hive of activity including white water rafting, and my favourite the thermal pools, which i visited at night, it was 1c outside the water and well... VERY hot! here I met some?great American who fed me rum and coke until midnight ?when a very nice man came and picked us up and took me home.
Todays my last day in Pucon and its been lovely, its like a little Swiss village (well they do have skiing on the volcano in the winter!). I was wandering around the town buying odds and ends for my journey home and having one last look at the lake, when i turn the corner and what do I finally see after days of wandering around like a lost soul wondering where on earth this bloomin´volano is in amongst the clouds dominating the skyline? YES! you´ve guessed it, the volcano and its HUUGGEEE and absolutely beautiful (have a look at the pics there are some of the sun setting on it!) there was even smoke coming out if too (its a live volcano and if you climb it you can see the lava!) If there is one thing I have to do in my life its to come back here and climb it!
On the night bus now back to Santiago for my next flight to lima and tour around Peru....
