So here I go again ............another year on and another trip!
For all of those out there who've been asleep for the last few months, I'm on the road again - or will be in the new year. This attempt is taking place in South and Central America - Buenos Aires to New York to be a little more precise.
How did I end up here ? Well the moral of that tale is never speak to strange men on phones who ask you to meet them on another continent.........complete with motorbike!!!!!
Silly me jumped at the chance........counselling sessions are now booked for my return!!
So at the end of November I dropped
little Henri off at James Cargo ready for the start of his little adventure across the Atlantic ocean to Buenos Aires.......it was at this point I had to remember how to drive my car! Apparently it was the 4 wheeled contraption that's been sitting on my driveway patiently waiting for it's owner to discover what it was.
Then the days ticked by, finally D-day had arrived - Saturday 11th December - time for my journey to begin. It went pretty smoothly, apart from having to wait for my slightly delayed connection in Madrid airport. Boring...........
Arrived in BA on the Sunday morning, grabbed my VIP car to my apartment, signed the papers, handed over the money and finally I was able to close the door and relax - hot shower, food and sleep.
The apartment isn't bad, pretty well located, only problem is I've got to get a little domesticated, and for all those who don't know me that well it's really not my thing!
Monday morning and a chance to explore my surroundings and meet up with the culprit of this little adventure ......Drew!! The Globebusters group had finally finished their TransAmerica trip. Sad really when a trip comes to an end, doesn't matter how long you've been away for ...........
The next couple of days were spent with late nights drinking and mornings recovering plus dinner and tango evening - not really my thing so we found an Irish bar and I got my first Guinness in Argentina !! Excellent !!
Paperwork !! For all of those peeps out there who are adventure bikers, you know it's a pain in the arse. Wednesday and Thursday were to prove no different. Wednesday was spent in the pouring rain trying to find the office to get my 3rd party insurance so I could finally retrieve my poor little motorbike from customs.
Early Thursday morning and I suddenly realised whilst staying at Drew's hotel that I'd forgotten my bike keys, so I had to go via my apartment before heading off to the airport to finally be reunited with little henri was spent in the customs offices at the airport waiting patiently whilst paperwork was completed and my bike was inspected.
