We picked 'Barney' (we nicknamed him) up and set off to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwins) which is about an hour north. We had a nice afternoon wandering feeding kangaroos and watching a croc show. Oh and a man taking a cheetah for a walk on a lead!!! Then came the problem of where to sleep as there were no campsites around so in the end we decided to head to Noosa again and sleep in the hostel car park! This was an experience but we survived but left early the next morning for Surfers Paradise. 

Dan wasn't feeling too well so we had a quick look round then found a campsite and chilled in the afternoon sun (such a hard life). It was really cold so we ate our tea in the camper it was cosy. The next day we were up and off again to Byron Bay, it's a really nice surfers town only a couple of hours south. We found a site right on the beach and decided to stay for 4 nights as Dan still had man flu (sore throat!) we didn't do very much here wondered along the beach and walked to the lighthouse. The humpback whales are migrating north now but we didn't see any!! 

Our next stop was Coffs Harbour, which was really nice but unfortunately we only had one night. The hot rods (old cars +old men) were at the campsite so it was very busy but still a now place. Then it was off to Port Stephen which had been recommended to us (having been we are not sure why!!!) as we were driving to the campsite it didn't seem like a very touristy place but we had no choice really we had been driving for 5 hours and wanted to stop. The campsite was ok not the best but we survived and set off the next morning to Sydney.

On the way south we stopped in Newcastle for a drink and watched a pod of dolphins playing just off the beach it was amazing there were about 20 of them!! 

 We still have one more night in Barney but I want to visit the Home and Away beach, so we found a campsite near ready to head up there early in the morning hoping to see some filming and get some pics. 

Up bright and early, we get to the beach about 8 and filming is well underway. We watch them film a couple of scenes and manage to get a picture with one actor and some scenery. However after 3 hours Dan has had enough (actually after about 10 minutes) so we head into Sydney to drop the van off.
