Hi,
We arrived in a very wet Hong Kong straight from the sleeper train, it was absolutely chucking it down and we had to get the metro to our hotel!! Luckily it was a quick walk from the station. This was our last proper day with our group, we did some shopping then went for our last meal together (I can't wait to eat normal food in Australia). Our guide then took us down to the harbour side to watch the free light show, which was ok but not spectacular, then we walked along 'avenue of the stars' Dan was pleased as we found Jackie Chan and Bruce Lees stars and hand prints.
The next morning we said goodbye to those who hadn't already left, then headed over to our new hotel which was on Hong Kong Island. In the evening we met some of the people for our group and went to the night market in Kowloon, which was really good we resisted buying anything for now!!!
We were up and out to get a cable car to Lanteu Island where there is a Giant Buddha at the top of the hill. It is the biggest outdoor Buddha in Asia definitely worth a visit. The view from the cable car was good aswell but even better there was a Subway at the top so I could have lunch!!!! After we got the cable car back down the hill we found a giant escalator, which is the biggest outdoor escalator starting at Central and going up the hill. We counted 17 escalators going up but we had to walk back down as they only go one way!
On our last full day we went up the Peak on 'The Peak Tram' the queue was massive but it was definitely worth it, the journey up was so steep. There are stops on the way up and it so impressive that it can get going again as it weighs about 9ton. The view from the top was impressive aswell we obviously picked a good weather day as we could see the whole of Hong Kong and Kowloon. We came back down In the tram but you come down the hill backwards. A very odd feeling.
In the evening we went back to the night market and couldn't resist picking up a few bargains plus some requests from my mum!! Dan likes to barter with the people.
We woke up to rain on our last day but we got the ferry over to Kowloon and had a Starbucks by the river before heading to the airport to start the next part of our trip.
