Day 40: 9/8/12
I slept in this morning for a change after all my early starts!! Just got up in time for check-out!
I had done a bit of research on Irish pubs as I wanted to see the Katie Taylor fight. There only seemed to be one so I headed there first. It was beside the San Francisco church so I had a look in there. All the churches are so rich. Found the pub anyway but it was actually a shop. There were sweets and jumpers! No television and no Irish people!!
So I went to the square and had breakfast. There was a tv there but they were only showing BMW racing- that was no good to me! I was googling everything on my phone to try to find somewhere to watch it. Rte doesn't work when you're outside the country. I signed up to aertv.ie but that didn't work either! So I decided Id go back to the hostel and see if I could get it on the tv there.
There were people watching a hockey match on the tv and a girl on the computer! No luck!! The girl on the computer was one of the staff so I asked if I could have the computer. Eventually I got the rte radio on the rte website! Heard all of Katie's last round, the result, the noise in the Excel, the interviews, the medal ceremony! It was class but I wish I could have watched it! I was listening for well over an hour to the reaction. YouTube was quite slow to have stuff up, but I saw a few videos of the square in Bray- was a good place to be I'd say!!
Headed off to the restaurant/bar area in Balcarce area for a look. Most places weee closed. But I found a cafe that was open that I spent a while eating and drinking. Skyped home aswell to say hello to them all! Then got to watch the 200m with Usain Bolt!
Headed back towards the square then and had a look in the cathedral. There's gold everywhere- even the speakers were gold coloured to blend in!
Got back to the hostel then and got a taxi to the bus. I had a printout of the bus I had booked but yerman at the desk didn't seem to know what it was and he had no English. He obviously knew I had booked it and paid for it though cos he wrote out some kind of ticket and got some guy to show me where to go. He had no English either so there was a lot of pointing!
There was only four people on the bus. One guy seemed to be commenting on how there were so few people on the bus, but once again no English. The bus stopped a few times on the way so a few people got on. The bus was comfy enough. They showed a weird film bout some Asian guy and lots was in Asian with Spanish subtitles- that was interesting! Then I tried to sleep but there was a strange beeping noise, like feedback the whole time so that was really annoying. I think I slept a bit though cos I didn't think it was that long, even though it was 11 1/2 hours!
