Well an update is in order. Won't be a long one as not much interesting has happened.
Had a nightmare trying to get things settled with all the bills in England. Multiple calls to phone companies and electric companies constantly telling me through recoreded messages how imporatant my call was, but how they could not answer because of a large volumes of calls. So after 3 days of 2 or 3 attempts every day, I decided to send these companies emails and await replys in Australia. I am still waiting.
But had a nice last few days in England with friends in Hastings and had an uneventful flight back to Sydney. Now I am staying with my parents in Point Clare on the Central Coast awaiting for my nursing registration here to be reinstated. But have discovered that a nurse's brain in unable to hold any knowledge after 10 months of being unregistered. Therefore I must now approach everything from scratch to prove my British nursing skills are comparable to Australian skills. Apparently even though all my 15 years of experience here and my Austrralian qualifications deteriorate so much if I leave the country that all my experience now counts for nothing in the eyes of the Australian board. But is fairness the Dept of Education here is the same.
So I spent 2 days as a gutter cleaner but was told the safety harnesses are not to be used on roofs lower than 2 stories as only vertigo would make me fall from a roof. Apparently slipping on a loose tile, moss, equiptment, branches, loose gutters, snakes, possums, funnel web spiders and hoses will only cause you to fall if you are more than 2 stories off the ground. I tended to disagree with the company boss, so resigned. It does mean it is the shortest period I have held a job in my life.
So I have an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) interview next week. Lets hope I can remeber how to do this job as it was 18 years ago I last held an AIN position. But if I get it, it is at a GP clinic and they will aknowledge my RN status once the Nursing Board does.
All that aside I have started climibing at a wall in Kincumber and met a few people there. I am going to Canberra in April to a gaming party with other friends and hopefully see a few other Canberrans.
Life is moving on and it will be at least a year before I can even think of returning to England because of the delays getting registered here will mean delays saving and applying for a visa. Perhaps I will never get back permenently and am bringing my things out to Australia as soon as I get a flat and a job here.
Anyway I am off to Cooma for Easter with a mate and I am looking forward to it. Hope to get to Beechworth, Albury and Melbourne soon to see folks there. If I get the GP job it is M-F so weekends off to travel.
