Sa wa dee ka! (that’s hello in Thai!)
We had our 4 nights on Phi Phi! The island itself was bigger than we imagined, but a lot of it was hills/cliffs. There are no cars, or roads, just little walk ways and alleys, people use bicycle to get around, and the lazy ones use electric bike or mopeds! Lots of bars, restaurants, dive shops, gift stalls. When we arrived we reaslised it was St Paddys day, as the Irish Pub was kited out in green and white ballons, logo t-shirts, banners etc! You didn’t feel like you were in Thailand, let alone a remote paradise island! We had dinner and a few drinks, but unless you were buying a litre and a half or wine or beer, the drink was quite pricey! The next day we headed to a small beach, the weather was cloudy on and off. There is not much else to apart from the beach, or get drunk! The 3rd day we got up early for our day trip around the island, and Phi Phi Lay (an island close by). We stopped at lots of little bays and beaches for hour/half hour stops to snorkel and take photos. Our last stop was Maya Bay on Phi Phi Lay (where the film The Beach was filmed). We were there until the sunset. The water was really clear!! The next day we went for a morning walk to the viewpoint at the top of the hill! What a view!! Its definitely worth the walk! After breakfast we headed to another beach and chilled out on some deck chairs for the day!
The next morning we caught an early boat to Phuket, where we checked into our lovely hotel for 6 nights! We have a little kitchen area so we don’t have to eat out for breakfast everyday which is nice (getting bored of French Toast, Egg on Toast, Jam on Toast) so we now have Choco Crunch Cereal…yummy!! We have a lovely balcony that gets the sun until it sets in the afternoon! A lovely little swimming pool, that we normally have to ourselves! And of course cable tv so that Lee can catch up on the football, haha!! We are a short walk from Patong where all the hustle and bustle is, but far enough away so that we can sleep at night. We’ve gone down to Patong every evening so far for dinner, and shopping. We have graced Bangla Road with our presence (any one who has been to Phuket will know what were talking about)! Its where all the night life is, and go-go bars, and ping pong shows etc etc!! We spend the days by the swimming pool! Tomorrow our friends arrive so were both looking forward to that! Not a lot to report really, were just making the most of our last days in the sunshine before we come home to the cold!! Brrrrrrr!! xxxxx
