Its our last day in Cairns today, we fly out to Singapore tomorrow lunchtime. We hired a car for 2 days and went North to visit Kuranda, Mossman Gorge, and Port Douglas. It was nice to be able to have our own agenda rather than sticking to that of a tour company. And we saved about $150!! The water at Mossman was freezing, but I loved it. Was so refreshing to be in spring water rather than salt!! In Port Douglas we went for a walk along the beach, where Lee found a coconut fallen from a tree and managed to crack it open so we sat on the beach and ate coconut J in the sunshine! The second day we had the car we headed South to the Atherton Tablelands where we visited lots of waterfalls, and rainforests. We visited the waterfall where the old Timotei shampoo advert was filmed!! Got a drive thru milkshake from Maccy Ds (had to do a drive through whilst we had the car J ) That was a pretty full on day, with lots of stops and lots of miles driven! That evening we went out for an Indian in the city, was our first Indian since we’ve been away - it was yummy! We have done a bit of shopping whilst weve been here, our last chance to buy “real” things!! Not fakes, lol! Yesterday we went on a day dive trip with Cairns Dive Centre. Early start down at the Marina, headed to the outer reef. We dived 2 sites. The first dive we saw a massive clam, about 1.5 metres long!! It was so colourful, and was cool to see it open and close. We also went to a swim through, kind of like tunnels, but your not totally enclosed, the coral is all above you and around you!! The visibility was a lot better than when we dived the Whitsundays. The second dive was just as good, visibility was great, water was 30degrees!! Lots of colourful corals!! We saw a turtle swimming on the surface when we got out! We spent a day by the lagoon chilling out, and will probably do the same today, whilst finishing of our packing etc as we leave for the aiport about 10am in the morning.
