This is well behind time, but have quite a bit of time in perth to kill so am going to do some major catching up on the blog and then try and keep it updated better than I have been.
We got the overnight train to chang mai where we relaxed for a bit got some breckie and then thought we would go for a swim as the hotel had a link with another hotel which meant we could use there pool for free! We got there and it was a very swanky hotel which great views and awesome facilities. We kinda disturbed all the people who were there for a holiday but we were quite excited to have such good facilities when we are supposed to be buming it! After that we went for a meal at a night market which was very nice....I have just eaten thai food whilst i have been here and its very nice with a lot of rice and noodles which curry (thankfully not too hot). That day as well we went to a tiger sancturay where you can go and touch and hug the tigers, which we couldnt quite believe until we did it...it was the small tigers to the bigs ones. When we got there we thought that the tigers must be drugged but there was an english man working there volunterrly and he said that none of them are, its just during the day they like to sleep and so they are very placied creatures. So that was really good fun and we got some good pictures of it. We then found out 2 days later that someone had got bitten there by one of the tigers and had to have 54 stitchs so thankfully that was us!!! The next day we made our way to the hills to do some trecking. We got there and had to walk for about 2 hours before we got to camp. In that time we got to swing on vines (a bit like tarzan) and got hats made for us our of leaves. We got to the village where we were staying and had a wash in the stream which was pretty nice although it was very cold and pretty shallow which rocks. That evening we had diner which consisted of curry and rice again, which handmade spring rolls they were really nice. We then had a camp fire and went for a wonder round the village and saw how they lived etc and had some of there home grown green team with the water boiled over an open fire in there homes. We then went to bed in our bamboo hut. Next day we then started trecking again for about 3 and half hours where we got to the elephant camp. Here we took an elephant ride for an hour. It was really good fun and we had to walk on the elephants head to get to it which was kinda wierd but they didnt even flinch. We found out that they eat a massive 200kg of food a day, and poo a lot. After that we had a half hour walk and got to the village where we were staying. When we got there we went for a swim in the river there which was great fun, where we could jump off the rocks etc but once again it was pretty cold. The next day we had a choice of bamboo rafting or trecking, me and nath went for the treck with a couple of other people from our group it was good fun in harsh conditions and bit mountains to climb. But it felt good after we had completed it and there was so amazing scenery along the way! Once we had finished the walk we had lunch and got a life for 2 hours back to chang mai where we went and had a couple of beers before having diner and doing some kareoke. The next day we went back to the pool to relax for a bit before getting the overnight train.
We got back to bangkok met our new group and headed to get the overnight train to Koh Sok national park. We arrived here the next day and decided to go tubing which basically meant sitting on these rubber rings whilst going down a river drinking beer, it was really good fun with vines to swing on and some amazing scenery to add to the beer. We chilled out here for a couple of days before heading to krabi.
In krabi we had a really remote location where there was hardly anyone else staying. Here we chilled in hamocks on the beach in 25 degree water and played a bit of vollyball. Day 2 in krabi we headed over to some of the near island including phi phi island and bamboo island. Here we did some amazing snorkling and saw the beach where `the beach` the film was set. I also managed to burn my back massivly which meant I was in a lot of pain for the next couple of days!
