Beste hotel ooi! (Dorint Hotel). Belgium taal is baie dieselfde. Lekker vir Kamp.
Day 2 Germany
Went on a cruise, saw lots of castles.
Cologne was ok. Cathedral mooi, maar was nie so beindruk nie. Hotel maar kakerig. The soup looks like tock and has cheese cubes at the bottom of it.
Day unknown but in Venezia (Venice)
Motoscafi to the island. Went to St Mark's Pisicilio. Glass blowing- ma bought me a necklace went shopping got more xmas ornaments and glass angel.
Stort vloer die hele badkamer water loop oralste. Mansmense ongeskik en hou van blondes.
Day Austria
Arrived late. Went to the biggest Swarovski factory. Bought earrings and a beacutiful purple butterfly. Lots of Christmas shops. Tax free ma bought earring and beads, free gifts and Christmas ornaments.
Drove into the mountains and arrived in a place called Eagle. Very quaint town (would imagine it to be beautiful at Christmas time covered in snow). Piano was playing Christmas songs. Had the most delicious cappacino there. Water nice and soft on hair. Pool had a doggy door from inside heated pool to outside pool. Barman told rude jokes old ladies 'golden girls' and a few of us sang the night away including of course Eidelweiss and other sound of Music songs as we were in Austria. Joke: What is a Australian kiss? A kiss down under.
Day Florence (or Rome first?)
Went for a ride up the mountain beautiful view over the whole city. Saw fake David. Rich people live there. Went down to the museum (acadania) and saw the real David (huge) huge hands, feet, ding-dong. Originally started by somebody else but finished by Michael Angelo sculpture was thought to be inferior to painting. Painters were artisit. Consistantly critised Leonardo. But even when he mad the most impressive painting which is the Sistene Chapel (rome/Vatican City). Vatican is the smallest country.
1. Vatican
2. St Pauls
3. Milan
4. Florence
Eastern toilets. They dont have seats. Koekiewassers orals Bodays.
The dome in Florence was 'Even though the one in Rome is bigger it is not more beautiful' Michael Angelo.
Went to see were Leonardo painted the Mona Lisa and in the square piazza della signoria was a stunning square with huge statues of the Roman gods and huge fountain.
Gelati twice- banana nice and melon was good.
Went to a leathershop. Expensive Florence renowned for gold. One bridge covered in jewelry shops. Less busy city. Small enough to walk everywhere.
The old Roman city is underneath the modern city.
Tuscany is renowned for there wine and olive oil. Wine Chanti look for the black rooster on the bottles neck (nice red wine).
Day Rome Day 1
Arrived at Hotel quite late went on a walking tour. Started at the Spanish steps went down to the Fountain Bennini made by a famous artist. Next went to fashion street prada, versace etc.
My highlight was the fountain of Trivi it takes your breath away. Had to put 3 coins in by throwing them over your shoulder 1) is for ood health 2) return to rome 3) wish and I think luck is somewhere there too.
'All roads lead to Rome' Really build that way even in the UK. Went to Pantheleon open roof rain floor drawing like mask of phantom of the opera. Dome is perfect sphere and will fit exactly if turned upside down (made without scaffolding).
Dinner in Piazza Novana on square. Music serenade looking onto the fountain. Ma ate carbonaro and I ate pizza thin with a boiled egg on it.
Rome Day 2
Met our guide Paulo outside the Vaican (excellent guide). Showed that Rome open minded 2 of some gods, greek, roman impession totally different in appearance opposite each other. Went through to the room of maps. Very interesting. Rome has a little island which is created by a loop in the river Tigo.
Vatican- chapel amazing painting. New/old testiment painted at the same time by different people. Showing same storyline. Michael Angelo made amazing paintings. On the roof the story proceeds. Small and big road to heaven amazing. He depicted the devil as somebody that previously critisezed his work. He is renowned to leave his work unfinished. Next we went to the church underneath all the graves. Then ?building the only open the doors once every 24 years on Christmad day. This celebrates St Paul. The whole building is in the shape of a key. Hew was the only apostal? that was selected by God. In the building there is a stained glass window amber colours with dove (sign of peace) in the middle. At sunset (April months) it makes the inside a golden glow which is the Holy Spirit and shines onto the statue of Paul. It forms a triangle with the Holy Spirit at the top point, doors at bottom. Everybody touches the feet of Paul it had to be replaced already. Had lunch seafood pasta and normal pasta devine mascarpone and nut cake.
Next bus tour guided. Walked around Colleseum. I found this hot but magnificent. The floor was wood with sand on top and underneath tunnels where the fighters and animals where kept. Each level of the Colleseum was marked with roman numbers so each person know which class - which level they were to gosit on. Hungry eastern migrants (pilgrams) use to get veg stow and the only things they could see was the arcs reminding them of the Roman domination. When they kissed the cross in the Colleseum. They could have 15 days of indulgence. The marble (but all has been recycled) that is why theres holes in the wall as well as people standing beams.
Dining with the Tenors was next very enjoyable singing and food. Involve the audience. Shaved someone. Vrou wat aanle by al die mans. Food: anti pasta - kopatio-cheese, 1st course - bread dipped in oil, mushroom rissoto, tomato paste pasta, main 0 lamp potato salad, dessert- of course tirimisu. They had the most divine champagne. Have to watch Gladiator the movie started watching it on the coach.
Day Switzerland Day 1
Dit lyk so mooi daar.
Switzerland Day 2
Stayed just outside Lucerner.
Was nogals lekker. Die water proe ongelooflik lekker hier. Alles is skoon en mooi.
Day Paris Day 1
Went to Nortre Dam Catherdal. Beautiful gargoyles on the outside to ware off evil spirits. Stained glass windows are like cartoonstrip showing(like a picturebook)the people the stories of the Bible. We then went on a bus sightseeing tour. Sun with a face on was Napolean. Kyle made us look for a teddy of Napolean in the window and then said look right and there was the Eiffel tower. There was also a building with huge columns and if you look across the river sein over the bridge you see the exact building on the other side.
There is a joke about Frenceh people. 'They are all inseine' They really are. The handsignal up yours shown with two fingers come from when the English fought the French. The English fought with bow and arrow and the French during the war cut off there bow fingers so they could not shoot them with their bow and arrow. And when the English defeated them they showed them the up yours sign as to say we still have our fingers.
After this was a walk to the Eiffel Tower. We went on a boatcruise. It was beautiful with all the statues on the bridges. All the important buildings were lit up. There were thse little squares along the embankment where people were dancing alot of tango. All the couple were smooching along the river. There was also a lovers bridge and bridge called New Bridge but it is actually the oldest bridge there as it was the first stone bridge and all the other birdges were made out of wood. Had supper in the Latin quarter (late for bus). Devine mussels escargos, steak, creme brulee. Rouge - dive red wine.
Day Paris Day 2
We had a guide aboard tour bus. Went to the Louvre saw inverted pyramid and Mona Lisa. I wonder s a lot of his paintings resemble this women if it wasnt just his style of painting. Saw glass pyramid and apartment. Really nice lounge and chandeliers in the apartments. Everything painted was painted in triangle I was also surprised to see the huge Egyptian influence in there artefacts. Alot of paintings were done on wood and you can see they were amateurs back then.
It rained!
The coach dropped us off at concorde where ma and I walked around. We had lunch at the rest, soup with croutons and cheese and quiche and salda. Hot chocalate was melted cocoa and a seperate milk jug with hot frother milk and of course water out of a vase.
Ma went shoe shopping. Back to the hotel to get ready for the show. It was a cabaret show Novelle Eve. It was really really good. The dancers were topless! So all the men were tipsy and happy when we left the show. My favourite part was the statue man. And when Charl won the dancing competition the balacing guy with the Einstein hairdo was funny to. It was like a Los Vegas show. We saw the Moulin Rouge across the road. Food was Salmon Pate, Steak, Cheeseplatter Cassata yum and of course lots of champagne.
I enjoyed the trip. Very rushed wont do longer then 12 days but I ennjoyed the time we did have in the countries.
