Our B and B La Flanerie is pictured. Getting here was harrowing for me. We arrived in town around 930, daylight rapidly fading. So I set off to find hotel while Robin and kids went with others to find their hotel and a quick bite for kids. Little did I realize that I was following the directions for a car, not a cyclist. I rode out onto the highway where cars and trucks flew around me (2 lanes, no shoulder, at dusk.). All that I could think was thank God Robin made me wear this construction vest with reflective tape on it! I finally got off highway and a had a few desperate conversations in French. No one knew of la Flanerie, but the gas station woman warned me that I was very late and hotel would be closing and that I should call them. In my terror on highway, I forgot all about the loaner cellphone that works in France. Called Paul, B and B owner, who came in person to rescue us. He walked me along the route to show me where the cycle path was. At 1030, we rounded a confusing corner and hesitated, and Paul appeared out of nowhere with his car to lead us the rest of the way with his car. He had been waiting for us, just in case! All of this took place in French by the way, thank you Wellesley for that foreign language requirement. Paul's wife does speak English. We met her the next morning. They are the nicest people in France, possibly the world.
