Poor Katherine struggled riding this morning. She was lagging at the back of the pack, tearful, complaining, blaming the bike. Robin and I were completely unsympathetic. We basically told her to either buck up or she was going to have to take the train. We discouraged all the other parents from paying any attention to her tears and complaints. The words shut up may have been uttered. We rode at least 10 km like this, most of it along a loud, busy highway. Once we got to a quieter road, we finally heard something rubbing. The poor girl had been riding with her front brake stuck. When eric tried to spin the wheel, it would not spin freely at all. Holy $(:/
Kat had been riding against intense resistance the whole way! We realized that this must have happened when she fell yesterday.
She was so gracious when we apologized. Another example of our exemplary parenting. I hope to be more like Kat -- no shortage of grit there.

Ginger Oh wow, poor kid!! I would have handled the complaining the same way you and Robin did, AND been SOOOOOO appreciative of her gracious apology. Think my kids would have tried to get at least 1 solid guilt trip out of it! Glad you guys are all having fun!!!
