We arrived in Mui Ne and were trekking with our backpacks on our back down the strip in the boiling hot sun trying to find a hostel. We got a few 'no room at the inns' from some hostels and cheap hotels, and came across some plush hotels which were way out of our budget!! We finally came across a little resort hotel which had a 3 bed room for just 25 dollars a night (which is actually expensive as usually we pay 15 dollars a night elsewhere). But at least the hotel had a swimming pool right outside our hotel room and another swimming pool right on the seafront. It felt like being on holiday!
As soon as we checked into our hotel though, I called the doctor as my infection on my leg was getting worse and very painful. They arrived and told me the medication I had been given was wrong. They had to squeeze all the pus out which was under the skin which was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. A lot of swearing and crying happened. I felt so much better though afterwards and thought the worst was over!! The doctor said I needed to see him in hospital the next day.
After I sorted myself out, we went to the cafe where I had a lovely fresh fruit salad. Fruit is a lot more expensive to buy in Asia, and this was the first fruit salad I had found!! I was very happy! We watched the sunset from the beachfront pool which was yet again, out of this world. Later on we went to an amazing kebab restaurant which we saw good reviews on trip advisor. We had the best kebabs ever!!
We went to a local bar afterwards which was right on the beach and played chilled house music, it was wicked Unfortunately I couldn't drink though because of all the medication the doctor gave me which was 5 different medication pills!
We got up the next day and sunbathed for a couple of hours by the pool. I was gutted as I couldn't go in the pool because of my leg :( we later went to the hospital to see the doctor which I thought would just be a check up and a dressing change. I was quickly whipped into the emergency room where they pointed to a bed for me to lie on with nothing said to me in English. Before I knew it, they were digging and cutting into my leg to remove a big abscess deep under the skin that they hadn't noticed before. I couldn't watch, and apparently they found an abscess deep in my skin which they hadn't noticed before. I was screaming with pain. If I had realised this was what they were going to do then I wouldve asked them to give me strong painkillers or try to numb my leg. But apparently the Vietnamese don't do that.
That visit took everything out of me so I had to go back to bed to rest for the afternoon. Hannah and Fenning went on a day trip to the sand dunes which I was gutted to miss, but I definitely needed bed!
