Well having finally got used to speaking in English again, i have been brushing up on my Moauri and sticking my tongue out and yelling alot...not much news there then!
I have been up to Pahia and dived the wreck of the rainbow warrior. Very nice, although rather an anxious dive for me (i dont like deep dives). Went to try to swim with dolphins but all the pods we found had babies which meant we could not.....but they were fab and great little swimmers (eugh!). Weather is changeable…

Weather is changeable. Luckily it was hot on the afternoon i went sandboarding. I went particularly quickly! As i flobbed down on the board the instructor told me to move back "you dont need too much weight at the front" he said. i laughed and said "difficult for me with these t***" ...his response..."well, i didnt like to say but yeah!" - I had been joking!!!!
Anyway, am now in Whangerei. Have been to some waterfalls today and am now waiting to go diving tomorrow. The poor knights islands is the destination, apprently one of the top 10 sites in the world.....on a good day. Fingers crossed. The hostel i am staying with came with a free night with the dive booking. i can now see why. think hi-dee-hi meets neighbours! mind, it has a pool and a hot spa and trampolene, so i have done a few length (small pool!) and kicked out a few triple salcos and am off in search of a tinny of laaager, mate!
Anyway, since the jungle drums are effective i expect you already know that i am going home early, so i will have to go now to try and ensure as deep a tan as is humanly possible to show off back in blighty.
Lisa arrives on friday. She will have to hit the ground running....have i got a tour planned for her!

hello for New Zealand!
I change of plan and a mad dash and i arrived in Auckland 2 days ago...in a yesterday kind of a way. I lost a whole Monday when i traversed the date line. Spooky!
Anyway, I am off to the Bay of Islands tomorrow for some diving action....hopefully and maybe some swimming with dolphins! Summer here is a watery version of home, not wet, just not HOT, My suntan will fade quickly at this rate. It is great not to be speaking spanish, but to be honest NZ is so far too much like home for me. I am looking forward to the stunning countryside to feel like i am away.
Being one for sampling local attractions, I had my first sip of MZ Sauvignon Blanc today....tasted much the same as it does in my kitchen, and i dont think it was much cheaper!
hear is is cold at home Brrrrrr! Ha ha ha ha!..should not laugh, may be laughing on the other side of my face soon.....xxxxx
Back in Mexico city. Scott came over on the 18th and we had 2 nights at the very posh W hotel....upgraded to the penthouse suite!!!!! Complete with rose petals up the stairs, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries!!!! (Thanks to Frank Grassman!) Then off to the beach, at Puerto Escondido. I had a mild atempt at learning how to surf, but after my feet were ripped to shreds on the rocks and I had swallowed more water than i had surfed over, I resigned myself to the boogie board! Scott fared better but the massive waves got the better of both of us! The weather was very hot and I am sporting a fab tan. It was an absolutely lush week and I am now back in Mexico City, on my own and back to "earth" with a bump! I have had enough of short hairy rip off merchants so the plan is to get to New Zealand asap.
So its the count down to the end of my useless spanglish and time to talk to people who understand me! (there´s a challenge!) xxxxx
I have the frozen north and spentan obscene amount of time on buses....i think i have covered about 3000 km which consisted of endless bleak pampa. I realise it would have been easier to fly, but i have hooked up with a fab girl called bek and we decided to undertake this mammoth task together. She spent a fortune on flying to join me in the Torres del Paine and i could not have done it without her. So this is my return efforts. Apart from anything, we get on really well and anywhere is better if you have a like mind to share itwith....so it will come as no surprise to hear that i am in Mendoza. If that soundsfamiliar to you its is because its the wine capital of argentina!!!! so i will be supping cabernet and malbec for 24 hours before another 36 hour bus trip to Iguazu falls!!!!
Anyway, for 2 nightsi get to sleep in a bed and the sun is shining and hot, so its all a bonus.
Imust try to get round to doing a scree aboutthelastfew weeks....very interesting stuff...life and death one might say!
What a bloody disaster...the camera, the REALLY expensive camera got stolen. Have wasted all day dealing with useless police officers who dont understand the meaning of "i will meet you at", i.e. that that means you MOVE and GO AND MEET said subject...grrrrrrr!!!
BA was good. Not as good as rio in my book. The football match was great if you were visiting to spectate the supporters, the football itself was boring (only to me!). The highight was the half time entertainment....the argentinian BLIND football team. The were penned in to asmall pitch about 4m wide and expected to just run around until they bumped into either each other or the ball!! Little Britain/Fast show could not have done it any better!
Am flying today to Trelew for Puerta Madryn, Valdez Peninsula )east coast) it is apprently full of welsh people, but i am assures there are some good attractions too like....whales (hmmm coincidence??). Otherwise i am still alive, but losing my possessions by the day. Have paid a ridiculous amount for a s***ty camera that one gets for free at home. If i can work out how to upload photos from ipod to here you will get some lovely rio shots....otherwise you`ll have to wait till i get home.
Probably most worrying is the loss of my trusty phrase book.....which i need!!!!!!
Is there no gossip from home...come on folks, fill me in!
I am keeping this site because i like the notice board, for the time at least. I am moving the log to http://spaces.msn.com/members/lizzielugg and this has been changed to allow public access (which was the problem before!)
Thanks for the messages - keep them coming. My phone has gone all south american on me...erratic, so I appreciate thias notice board! I am not receiving most of the texts I have been sent it would seem, so my hotmail address is a better bet - or here!
Lots and lots of love
