Hello!
My apologies for my lack of blogging! We have had to rush the south of Thailand to get out of the rain and I assume most of you know that its now really flooded down there! Elly has been forced to use her raincoat nearly everyday and me and Maria have had to buy yellow plastic poncho's that make us look like walking condoms.
soooo...
We ventured from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon party! The Sun was out as we tavelled to the pier to catch the boat, however, after waiting about 20 minutes it began to torrentially rain to the point we were forced to stand on wooden blocks to avoid the flood that was building. They decided after the plank on the pier could no longer reach the boat safely to send off the people already on the boat and coach us to another 'more stable' pier. Its fair to say that everyone was pretty much shocked that they were still allowing us to get on a boat when there was one of the worst storms ive ever seen!! Once on the boat they started giving out sick bags and as we flew over wave after wave I was greeted by my omlette I'd had for breakfast. We got to 'Charung Bungalows' and after expecting an absolute hole because we'd booked only a week in advance we were slightly pleased, I emphasis slightly as pipes were hanging off and we had to use a padlock to lock our room. The parties leading up to the Full Moon were amazing, especially Coral Bungalows pool party! The Full Moon itself was 'wild' there is no other way to describe it! You'll see the drunken pics and I still have a bruise from being launched off a picinic bench by a crazed drunken man! Elly became very ill for two days every hour and to this day we arnt sure if it was disagreement with thai food or simply Charung. We stayed in Koh Phangan for another few nights then decided to head off to Krabi - its still raining at this point!
We stayed in a beautiful (perhaps only beautiful after staying in Charung 5 nights) hostel 'The Pak Up' in Krabi town. We decided to go on a day tour canooeing to see James Bond Island which was cool and we had lunch on a floating Muslim village. We were caught in yet another storm on the boat back to the mini-bus! The day finished with a trip to see a monkey temple. The next day we took the boat to Railey beach which was beautiful even without sunshine! We spent the day wondering around then got the boat back to Krabi. Whilst getting off the boat, our lovely thai boatman successfully helped both Maria and Elly off but when it came to my turn he accidentally turned on a hosepipe which was pointed at my face and stayed on for the best part of a minute! Seeing as the weather wasnt getting any better we decided to move on to travel to Koh Phi Phi, one of the most famous thai islands where they filmed the beach!
The boat ride to Phi Phi was promising as the sun was peeping out the clouds - Maria however did not realise this and proceeded to badly burn her neck and thighs! We spent the day on the beach - our first proper beach day! Its a very pretty island! For the second night on the island we thought it would be good to stay in a hostel and Maira was recommended a place called 'The Rock'. Me and Elly made the mistake of paying for the night before asking to see the dorm - I have never seen such a s*** hole in all my life and that is putting it lightly. The toilets were inhabited by frogs and moths, the people who had practically moved into the place lovingly informed us of the bedbug situation, and explained how a guy the night before had been vomming in the bin all night but they couldnt be arsed to take the bin outside. The place made Charung look like a palace. Maria became ill, like Elly's sickness, we wernt sure if it was the rum buckets or 'The Rock'. Its fair to say we were ready to move on to Phuket the next morning!
Walking to catch the boat was what Maria describes as one of the worst experiences of her life quote 'I cant do it anymore, this bags too heavy, Ive had enough, stop laughing lizzie, I feel like Im gunna vom and Im in the middle of Asia'. Joke was on me when I proceeded to vom on the boat - I have now bought travel sickness pills! We arrived in Phuket and it was raining as usual! Phuket is probably my least favourite place we're been to. Its full of Thai brides and fat English men and you can only just differentiate it from Benidorm. We did however stay in a lovely hostel called 'Bogeda'. The first night Maria was still ill so she stayed in and Elly and I went out for food. We got in earlish and decided to go to bed early. I felt fine going to sleep but woke up at 12.30am and began to throw up everywhere - no so pretty when your on the top bunk in an 8 bed hostel! The nightporter 'doesnt like sick' so poor Elly was given a mop and bucket whilst I stood mortified at what had just happened. So far rain and sick are dominating our travel experiences! We decided to move on to the north as the weather looked better so we booked some flights to Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai is the nicest place we have been, not just because the sun shines everyday here and our hotel has a pool! Theres a lot more to do up here. We have been to the big bazzar market and ate with the locals for just 80p each! Today we went to Tiger Kingdom and played with some massive tigers! We're going on a trek on Monday for 2 days and we might go up to Pai for the night!
So far very good! Hope your all well!
Lots of love xxx
