Well we left sunny Brisbane and headed down to Surfers paradise were it was raining, joy!! The next day the sun made another appearance so we headed straight to the beach to catch some rays. It was all good until mid afternoon and then the pesky rain made another appearance, so we did what all good travellers do and went to9 the bottle shop for a box of goon and stayed in. With Surfers not been the best we headed off again this time our next stop was Byron bay.
We arrrived in the afternoon and moved in to our lovely new dorm, met a couple of girls in our dorm who went to Leeds uni (Leanne and Helen) so got talking over a couple of boxes of goon then went out on the town. The first bar gave us our drinks in Jam Jars?!?!?!?!? odd I know so we moved to the next bar (of which became our second home) Cheeky Monkeys. In here it was all about dancing on the tables and been stupid, so it was pretty easy for me to fit straight in. The next day we took it easy and went to the beach to chill out followed by a couple of drinks in the beach bar, listening to a band. With the quiet day done and out of the way the next day me and Leanne hire Boogie boards and hit the seawell that was until the shark turned up and spoiled our fun. He went away again though so we had another go later but the currents got strong and it became too much like hard work, so yet again we had some goon and trotted off to cheeky monkeys. We did more dancing (jumping) around on tables until the early hours of the morning. The next day we headed to the beach bar to listen to the sunday band unfortunatly none of us were in the best of conditions, I dont think it helped that the band was rubbish and the bar was full of mad hippys in fairy costumes?!?! It's a very odd place but I like it. The next day went back to the beach but the shark had come back and this time he wanted to stck around some the beach got shut, so it was shopping followed by goon in the room and we thought we'd bring on the crimbo spirit so we doned the tinsel and hit cheeky monkeys (you know for a change). The next day we managed to get back into the see for a spot of boogie boarding and then chilled out ready for leaving the next day.
So back on the road again and heading back to Sydney but the beach this time and home for Christmas. We arrived in Sydney after a 14 hour bus journey with a guy who smelt rather bad infront of me. Lets just say it was not the best journey of my life. As we arrived at 6.30 in the morning the hostel was not open so we went and sat in Mac d's for an hour, once inthe room was not ready so we fell asleep in the tv room. Thank fully our worrys about the hostel wrere forgotten as it was clean yippee but we did get put in a 12 bed dorm!
The first night there we met up with Cyeana our friend from New zealand and her boyf Travis, we went out and checked out the local bars and met some of the guys from our hostel. Then came a very exciting night we went to see Dr Karl Kennedys band play (from neighbours) it was fantastic and he opened by playing ruby ruby ruby, marvellous!!! Helen got to go back stage and meet him and she said he was really nice, Sam was not best pleased as she wanted to see hi and didn't get chance, oops.
