2/7/09 Tarija to Salta
We travelled to the Argentine border and all of our stuff had to be removed for xray checks. The border guards were really thorough with searching the truck and even xrayed the gerry cans, they even pulled the head lights to pieces looking for drugs. We were all eventually allowed back onto the truck to continue our journey towards Salta and pulled up at the campsite for the night. We decided we didn't want to camp and headed into town to find a hostel for the night. We quickly located the Cathedral hostel near to the central plaza, checked in and went to join the rest of our crew at a steak house for an Argentinian steak! Brendan our driver had found the steakhouse from recommendations and we all piled in . We were advised to order one steak between two as they were huge. We weren't convinced but were glad we had shared one when the 750g slab of meat arrived. Some of the others had ordered one each and had to take a good half of it back in doggy bags, we managed to eat all of ours but it was a struggle!!! It was one of the best steaks we had ever eaten which it should have been in Argentina. After such a protein overdose we crashed into bed pretty stuffed but happy.
