Liz & Chez's Big Adventure
Twenty-three hours on a rickety old cramped bus later...(we did get to watch Merry Christmas Mr Bean as our en route entertainment, and The Beach which means we are both now paranoid about being eaten by sharks every time we take a dip in the sea!) we arrived at Ranong in preparation for a short boat trip to Kho Chang. In Kho Chang we stayed at Sawasdee resort where we were one of 8 visitors. The resort was ran by Noi and Fon- they were the sweetest couple who met in Melbourne, and in Noi's words with a big grin plastered on his face they "came back to marriage" ah bless them! After jumping out of the boat into the sea holding our bags high above our heads there was absolutely nothing to do except laze around in hammocks on the beach, reading and eating more delicious Thai food made by Noi another amazing chef despite his degree in mechanics- they don't even have roads on the island!! Cheryl has actually finished a book-hurray! It was only taken her 6 months. Luckily for Liz there are handy book exchange shops so she is traipsing through the Dan Brown collection at fair old rate. We stayed in a cute wooden bungalow on stilts on the beach next to another bungalow that got burnt down last week by Claus, a German guy who not so intelligently decided to take a candle to bed with him inside his mosquito net. He is identifiable in Sawasdee by the fact that he burned his feet and now has to be pushed around the island in a wheelbarrow! After a few days of doing nothing we felt refreshed, energized and ready to party. Two days later!? (its should only have taken 5 hours) we arrived in Kho Pha Gnan. Naively we bought plastic buckets ie bucket and spade buckets containing a mixture of Sang Som (Thai rum), sprite and red bull. Needless to say we had a good night. This morning however, we discovered red bull actually has speed in it!? We wondered how we managed to keep going until 6am! So here we are still sunbathing, even though it absolutely chucked it down last night, currently planning our next move up to the north of Kho Pha Gnan to the yoga sanctuary for a bit of detoxing after tonight's partying episode that is (minus the red bull) Lots of love to you all xxx
