I landed in Hong Kong on Friday 26th september after a 12 hour flight. I slept for over 9 hours. As soon as we checked into the hotel Chris met me in the hotel lobby and took me out in Hong Kong for the day while the rest of my group slept! He bought me a camera and then we could get sight seeing. He showed me the best places to go out on Lockhart road and in Lang Kwai Fong. We caught the MTR to Ngong Ping and then got on a cable car up to see the Big Budha.
Chris had to catch a flight to Singapore so we went back to his flat for a little bit and then he shoved me on a ferry back to the centre. i had to get a taxi to the hotel after the ferry. Pretty scary trying to get around Hong Kong having no idea where anything is and in rush hour. But i got back to the hotel fine and then most of us went out in Lockhart road for a few drinks that turned out to be a big night out!
I slept all night untill about 1 becuase we had a tour at 2. The bus took us to the peak where we could get a good view of the City then we went to Aberdeen floating village with the Jumbo floating restaurant. Finally we went to Stanley Market. In the evening we had an 8 course chinese meal at a nice restaurant. I tried it all and most of it was nice but some of it should have been avoided. We then got the ferry across to Kowloon to see the Symphony on Lights show over the city, it was good but not great. Back at the hotel we had a 'quiet' night in still getting to know eachother.
On Sunday morning (28th) a few of us went for a little wonder around Wan Chai, and then we got on the bus at 2.30. we saw a Temple in the middle of the city which was really nice but under construction. the bus then took us to the Jade market and i bought a few presents and put my bartering skills into use. We saw the longest suspension bridge (i think) and supposedly used the best toilets in Hong Kong as our guide informed us. However, they really weren't amazing, just had some music playing.
Once we got to the airport we had a massive long 6and a half hour wait till we could board!...chris told me this would happen, Bunac obviously havent changed their itineries much in the last 5 years. I had a window seat on the plane so i could see over the city at night because we took off at midnight. Quite cool. I didnt get so much sleep on this flight but watched loads of films. Turned out the one time i did fall asleep was just at the end of our flight when we passed over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, ooops.
