Woke up around 5.30/6am as I often do...managed to doze off again only to be woken suddenly by Andy telling me we should have checked out an hour earlier - it was suddenly after 11! Oops!
So we hurriedly checked out & headed to a cafe for breakfast. We then wandered to the sky tower - a tall tower built in the mid 90s 328m tall wth an observation deck on the 60th floor. Visibility was quite good so was views across the city out to the ocean
We then had a drink by the quayside before heading to Mount Eden - one of the volcanic hills in the city. Again the views were great
We then headed out of Auckland and down to Hamilton where Andy is based. He took me for a tour of the town & the airport, picked up a couple of pizzas & headed to his CTC / clearways base. It's a bit like halls of residence - well actually it's exactly like halls of residence. He shares a small kitchen & bathroom with a guy called Chris, there are around 8 units like that in each block with a large common room & kitchen at the end of the hall. His room is bigger than mine was in halls which is good since this will be home for both of us for most of the next month - esp as am yet to plan going anywhere & doing anything yet! Getting organised will be tomorrow's task!
