Day Eleven Back in Alice for the weekend - managed to hitch a lift with the odd-job man from the clinic, and will head back tomorrow afternoon ready for my first full week! Day Nine - Santa Teresa Started work in the Aborignial community today, I got a lift from Alice Springs this morning and arrived by 10am. Essentially Santa Teresa is a small commuity of about 700 people which was originally set up by Catholc Missionaries and the church is still very much evident; there is a large cross on the hill above the community and the church is central to the community , both geographically and in terms of community life. Day Seven Busy day today! It was the first orientation and induction day in Alice Springs, and I was in lectures from 8.30 to 4.30 - a bit of a shock to the system! Working in this heat is very strange, not helped by the air conditioner in the room being set so low I had to ask for it to be turned down... oh, how they laughed at the uber-sensitive little english girl!
