Hi Everyone,
Back again, I have final finished putting on all my photo's to date (yeah)!!
Today I have been plodding round Christchurch, in the cold but sunny weather. It is like a sunny spring day here at the moment.
During my walking around, I have been to Christchurch art gallery. This was quite small but had some interest modern and classic art (and it was free). I then went to Canterbury Museum, which is all about the history of Canterbury (as I believe christchurch in the Canterbury area of New Zealand). There were far to many children in their so I aborted quite early on - but seem quite interesting.
Due to it being such a lovely day, I then ventured to Christchurch Botanic Gardens. This has been the highlight for today as it was so peaceful and very pretty. They have a couple of greenhouses (very mini kew gardens) and lots of different types of beddings and trees. The river run through the garden appears to be used regular by punting boats and canoes. This did make me feel I was in England. They even have the same bird and ducks, but here is far more peaceful.
As the day was getting to a close, it was getting colder - so I went to the Aqarium and Kiwi centre - and guess what I saw a range of fish and two Kiwi's. The Kiwi were a lot bigger than I thought - they were like chickens but with very large beaks.
Due to the cold weather and me not being prepared, I also went coat hunting. There are few outdoor shops here. I managed to find a sky jacket (as they have a few shops). It was a little bit more than I was planning to spend, but it was reduced by $150. Its nice and warm - which is great as it may be snowing when I get to Queenstown. (so much for my tan).
I am planning to go on the tram tomorrow and also go to christchurch Gondola (as there meant to be fab views there). Off to do my washing now.
Hope you are all ok.
Lots of love
Helen
