Rough getting out of Anchorage due to the movers not getting there until after 10 to simply take apart 2 beds and a crib, and take out a few last minute boxes. At noon they'd only managed to get one bed taken apart leading to much frustration on all of our parts . Elizabeth, Zoe, Layla and I ended up going ahead and leaving about 12:30 as there was no reason for all of us to stay. The VIVID colors and contrasts leaving Anchorage were the most amazing I've ever seen. The bright yellows contrasting with the evergreens were astounding! Bummed me out to be the driver and not able to snap a picutre, but Joe took one for me when they headed out.
We were able to make a couple of stops for pics and to let Zoe and Layla get out to stretch. One of the stops was at Matanuska Glacier where I was able to get a picture with at least a little of the fall foilage, with the glacier behind.
Thankfully Joe and Greg were able to head out about a half hour after us, so got in shortly after we arrived at our cabin in Tok: HOWLING RAVEN CABIN (so appropriate for us!). The cabin is cozy and delighful. We just finished a nice last meal of Greg's halibut for dinner.
There's a winter storm warning out for here the next couple of days, and the snow started just before we arrived. It's now coming down a bit hard, but the main thing are high winds. We're hoping for no accumulation as we head out for the border tomorrow morning.

Carol Mac Too funny! I kept wondering -Who is Layla? Are they bringing a friend home? When did the plans change? And finally figured it out when she had to stretch her legs!
Lisa VonderHaar Laura, no doubt some precious memories... PLUS all documented!! Carol, never thought about explaining who Layla was.. got a chuckle out of your comment.
