Tuesday 12th January.
We set an alarm for 7:15 to get up and out to see the Blue mountains today. We could hear all sorts of nature outside, and smell so much fresh greenery it was really nice. We went to make breakfast and toast some ciabatta's for lunch. Kirsty managed to pull the shelf off that the utensils was on in the camp kitchen, and everyone was staring at us. Typical Kirsty. Once we were all packed and ready to go we drove to Katoomba which is the next village along where the bus starts from. Kirsty drove so she could see how she would get along with the van. We turned out the campsite and she stalled going up the hill, and had the windscreen wipers going too. We almost rolled back down the hill but she managed to save it and we finally got going. We parked up at Katoomba park and hopped on the big red bus. The driver was really funny and helpful. We went to a few different stops and hopped on and off. We went to the 'three sisters', honeymoon lookout, Leura cascades, and Echo point. We did a lot of walking through the mountains and the views were amazing. The mountains do actually look blue in the distance too. We spent half a day there and stopped for a sandwich and a break, on a bench next to the honeymoon lookout. We left about 3pm and went to Liquorland to pick up some cider for after dinner. We made chicken curry with rice and naan bread for dinner, and sat and drank our cider whilst we planned where to go next. An Australian lady in her 50's, who was a bit tipsy, was waiting for her husband to cook their BBQ food, and came over to sit with us. She was saying she has always wanted to go to England and asking us all about it. Later on we got speaking to an Italian couple who were telling us they had done the East Coast from top to bottom, so gave us some tips and recommendations and I sat talking to them for a while whilst my sister went to call her boyfriend. We didn't want a late night so when we finished our ciders we headed back to the van and went to bed.
