Well!!! The drive from Queenstown to Christchurch was not fun to say the least, it was long and boring, not a lot to see along the way. We saw the lake in the picture though and got a great view of Mount Cook.
We arrived in Christchurch and it was a quick change for me then i was out to the second of my Mauri Experiences, this one was a re-enactment of their history & story and was fabulous, i really enjoyed learning all about it. The meal we had was gorgeous too.
Next morning it was up early to set off to Kaikoura, the bus was setting of at 7.30am!! Quick cup of coffee & a bacon buttie & we were on our way! It only took a couple of hours to get to kaikoura, and i could harldy contain myself as i knew that afternoon i'd be getting the chance to swin with dolphins!!
12:30pm arrived and we got into wetsuits etc and drove out to South Bay to get on the boat. About 30 minutes out we started to see the dolphins...wow!!! They were swimming right next to the boat and flipping around doing somersaults etc! This would have been enough but oh no...!! We got to the back of the boat, slipped into the water - snorkels & masks on! then began flipping around, making noise, waiting to see if the dolphins would come & see us....it took me a while to get confident with my breathing through the snorkel enough to put my head under the surface! But i did and the dolphins swam right up to us, brushing past us & circling us!! It was the best experience i've ever had!! It was absolutely amazing!! I took a whole film of photos so i hope some of them come out good enough!! The memories will last a lifetime though..
So, it's off back upto Christchurch tomorrow, having dinner with Tricia & Marion for the last time then at 3:50am (!!??) i get the bus to the airport to fly to Sydney where i'll be staying for 4 days before flying to Bangkok..
Will try update once more before i get home...1 week to go!!!!
Seeya!!!
