Hello!
Wow! We have just got to Nha Trang after an amazing 3 days at Jungle beach. It was so beautiful! It was great to relax and enjoy the beach and gorgeous weather after all the rain of Laos. We definately got back to basics in our bamboo hut with only a raised matress and mosquito net (not even a proper door and the windows were curtained holes!) but everything about our 3 days there was perfect! We loved our bamboo hut!
We arrived at 5am on the back of a motorbike, watching the local people at work on the way (they must get up so early!), and were met by Sylvio the owner, who took us to see some monkeys! The resort is backed by huge jungle clad hills with huge rocks jutting out, and sometimes after sunrise, you can see the black shanked douc langurs. They are a very rare type of monkey found only in Vietnam and Laos, and these are particularly special because they are completely cut off from other groups of their species. There were telescopes set up so we could watch them properly. They were either chilling out on rocks or swinging through the trees - it was a fantastic start to our stay! We tried to take some photos down the telescope but they didnt work too well.
We spent most of our time there on the beach, shared only by the other people staying at the resort. The beach was pure white sand and the sea was clear and turquoise just like you see in holiday brochures! It was purely sand in the sea too which was great for our feet and we both agree it is the hottest sea we have ever been in! The weather was scorching, so after running as fast as possible across the evil burning sand, we kind of wanted the sea to be cooler as it wasn't too refreshing! There was also a pool of water left behind when the tide went out which was too hot for me to walk through! Oh well, guess we shouldn't complain too much!
Meals were all included, and everyone sat together for lunch and dinner. There were around 20 people there who were all pretty cool. We were the only young backpackers but it was nice chatting to different types of people for a change. The food was amazing too!
The beach faced east, so we got up early for sunrise one morning which was beautiful. What made it even better was all the sand flies that had got up for it too! At least they disappeared when it got too hot.
We were sad to leave this morning but guess we've got to keep moving, time really seems to catching up on us! We've just got to Nha Trang, a city on the coast with great beaches and islands apparently so should be good. Think we'll stay a few days. We might even go diving!
Hope all is ok at home,
Bye for now!
