So, arriving at Bangkok airport I thought I'd try & get the sympathy vote to try & get out of paying my fine for overstaying my visa. I made sure my bandages were on show & walked with a heavy limp. I didn't get out of the fine but they were really nice to me & insisted they push me around in a wheelchair all day. They put me on the plane first, no hanging around & they made sure I got a whole row of seats to myself so I could put my feet up. What a result! It got annoying though because they also had a wheelchair waiting for me at Sydney airport & by this time I just wanted to stretch my legs. It was sort of funny though.

I'm not sure what to make of Sydney. It's big & scary & really cold. It's a massive difference from being on a tiny island where i knew everyone - it's like any other big city I guess. I haven't really seen much. I went to see the harbour which was impressive & went shopping. I'd like to stick around for a bit & see some more sights like Bondi beach but it's cold so I couldn't sunbathe anyway. I spent a lot of time trying to see a doctor & I had to register with Medicare so I get free treatment but I still spent a fortune on prescriptions & dressings for my feet. Good news though - they're not going to fall off. Doc said he couldn't work out what pills the doc in Thailand had given me but some looked suspicously like ecstacy. Lovely. I've got some new pills & it should be better in a week.

Everything is so expensive here although apparently it gets cheaper as you go up the coast. Eating out is a definite no but I like cooking for myself for a change even though it's always just soup & a roll ha ha! I may push the boat out & cook some pasta tonight. I'm staying in a massive hostel & it's really expensive, haven't really met many people yet but bumped into the same lads that I camped with on Maya beach so that was cool. I can't wait to get to somewhere a bit smaller. I'm leaving tomorrow for surf camp then up to Byron bay which I'm really excited about. Don't think I'll be any good at surfing though but we'll see. I'll let you know...
