Hi all!
After 2 days in Luang Prubang we decided it was time to move on to Vang Vieng. I'm suprised we made it alive because the bus driver was a maniac, overtaking on corners on the sides of mountains! When we arrived it all looked quite quiet, how wrong we were! This place is amazing & so beautiful! Our guesthouse is awesome too - I've got a kingsize bed all to myself & it's the cheapest place we've stayed in so far!
Yesterday we tried tubing. This is cruising down the Nam Song river in a tractor tube (like a big rubber ring). It's become a rite of passage for backpackers here. It was so fun. You start off cruising & you're only on the river for about 100 meters when you come to the first bar, then you pull yourself in with the ropes & have a few drinks, do some rope swings etc. Then you get back in the water for another 100 meters when you arrive at the 2nd bar so you get off again. They've got Volleyball, music, dancing, body painting etc. You get the picture - it's like Tenerife but instead of a beach you're in a river in the mountains. It's one big party & it goes on all day. Then when you get back everyone heads for the smile bar to continue the party round a camp fire. The only downer is that by law everything stops at 12. Party Poopers. And I've found cheeky vimto by the bucket! (Literally by the bucket). Result! And I've got a tan!
We've met hundreds of people here. It's funny because you meet so many people it's impossible to remember everyones name so everyones calls each other by the place they're from. So it's like "Hey Sweden, where's Finland going?" I've been practising my German too.
The plan is to go to Vientiane tomorrow & stay there until my Visa for Vietnam comes through then bus it to Hanoi. Although we're thinkiong about flying now because we've heard some horror stories about the bus trip. If I don't like Vientiane then I'm coming back here because I'm in love with the place.
Anyway, hope you're all good & missing me loads! Pics soon but I'm finding it hard finding somewhere that I can load them up. Bye for now!
